Eagle River - Alaska

 

It is amazing to think that the Eagle River and Chugiak Areas make up for 30,000 of the Alaskan popluation. If it weren't part of the Anchorage Municipality, Eagle River would be named one of the five largest cities in Anchorage. Located only a few minutes from Fort Richardson and Elmendorf Air Force Base and only 15 minutes from Anchorage, Eagle River is a wonderful commute location for people who do not want to live in the city.

 

Eagle River is home to great events such as the Highland Games, the Fourth of July Festival and the Bear Paw Festival. Anchorage residence have to be creative during the Fourth of July, fireworks are not permitted in the Anchroage Bowl.

 

The Eagle River Nature Center located on the Eagle River is the main entrance to the Chugach State Park. The Crow Pass trail runs 26 miles from the Nature Center all the way to Girdwood. Also, hiking Mt. Baldy is a popular trail and overlooks the town of Eagle River.
